I have just recently started The Bridge and it is my first experience with RPE. I feel unsure about whether or not i am working hard enough and i felt the chart was a little low when it came to selecting proper weights. Do you ever recommend anyone to test their RPE judgment by actually trying for the last 2 reps on an @8 or do you have some other way of testing that wont increase the volume of a workout.
No, we don’t recommend taking things to failure. This is just a calibration process that improves over time, and “close enough” is generally good enough, because if you’re getting stronger, the weights will go up at the same relative effort anyway.
