Thoughts? RPE/Volume advice

I signed up for group programming but that doesn’t start until next week. Instead of doing a 10th week of TM i decided to get some practice using RPE to drive a higher volume at a lower intensity. Am I heading in the right direction with this type of mindset for training?

My tenth week of TM programming would have looked as follows.

  1. Squat 5RM = 365x.9= 330lbs for 5x5-----I haven’t failed on this yet but the last few weeks have definitely been an @9-10 grind
  2. Bench 5RM = 255x.9= 230lbs for 5x5@9-10
  3. Deadlift 5RM= 400x.9= 360lbs for 2x5@8-9

What I did today.

  1. Squat. i)275x5@7 ii)295x5@7.5 iii) 315x4@8 iv) 315x4@9 v) 315x4@9 total volume =24 reps
  2. Bench i) 185x8@8 ii) 205x6@7 iii) 205x6@7 iv)205x6@7.5 v)205x6@8 vi)205x6@9 total volume = 38 reps
  3. Deadlift i)330x4@7.5 ii)330x4@8 iii) 330x4@8 total volume 12

I’m not sure what you’re asking in terms of “mindset for training” – but yes, the way you’re ramping sets and assessing the difficulty is similar to how you’ll be doing things in Group programming.
