I have been looking around on the internet but could not really find any good literature on this. Is there any evidence in favour or against ‘tight’ trapezius muscles causing headaches? A doctor recently diagnosed a relative of mine with this and I would like to read up on it. Also, how does one go about looking for evidence on a specific topic such as this?
Hey @Decgreg - eh, this is a common narrative, but as you’ve likely found out - difficult to produce good quality evidence to support this line of thinking. Headaches are an interesting rabbit hole as it often gets dichotomized into primary and secondary headaches. Primary - headache is the only symptom and no other underlying etiology can be identified as meaningful which opens up doors for all sorts of hypothesis about the “cause”. Secondary headaches are typically a symptom of some other underlying issue that needs to be addressed, these typically require interventions.
