Trigger Point, Taping and Contractures/Tight Muscles

Hi Doctors,
i know you guys talk all the time about these topics (especially Dr Rey), but i was hoping you could suggest me scientific literature and some good articles to have as reference regarding trigger point, taping and contractures/tight muscles. As a colleague doctor of medicine (just graduated) i’d like to be updated with the newest evidences and studies instead of being grounded in old and biomedical concepts and you are the best in these kind of things. Your artiicles and lectures about pain and biopsychosocial model change completely the way i look at medicine and the human body and i can’t honestly thank you enough for all the work and the quality content you guys do.

Thanks in advance, Alex

Thanks for the message Alex. Glad the information has been helpful.

If you want some discussions on pain with citations for review, then I suggest Dr. @Austin_Baraki 's blog: https://startingstrength.com/article/aches-and-pains
Also, here is my blog on pain with relevant citations: https://thelogicofrehab.com/2017/09/…ding-the-path/
Contractures/tight muscles: https://www.barbellmedicine.com/mobility-explained/
Regarding trigger points, I discuss the topic in this blog on IASTM: https://thelogicofrehab.com/2017/01/…ives-of-iastm/
Also for trigger points - here is the latest review by Rathbone: Interrater Agreement of Manual Palpation for Identification of Myofascial Trigger Points: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis - PubMed. If we are unable to agree upon any diagnostic criteria and reproducibility is no better than flipping a coin - the efficacy of the narrative for trigger points is lacking at the very least and worst case scenario, patients are unnecessarily being provided a “problem” that needs “fixing” (all while someone is profiting from the false narrative).

I highly recommend not just reading our thoughts about these topics in our blogs but, as a medical professional, digging into the meat of the topics via the research. Happy to discuss any of this. Thanks for being willing to assess ideas and research on these topics.

Thanks for the replay, i’ve got plenty of stuff to read now. Also really appreciated your recommendation about make my own opinion about it and not just sticking to yours. You prove once again how honest you are regarding your work
