Timing of endurance training vs heavy lifting days

First, thank you for the incredible seminar in Brooklyn. The quality and quantity of information and coaching offered is not only very high, but a great value as well.

How is it best to program endurance training in relation to heavy lifting days?
Specifically, I have one day where comp squat is the main exercise and one day on which I bicycle long distances (by June 100 miles, ~6-7 hours). Should these be as widely spaced apart as possible or close together?

I can imagine riding the day after squats (currently what I do, but still at only 40 miles and low intensity), but might can’t really imagine squatting the day after a century.

I realize the riding will compromise strength gains, but I love riding.

Also, I’m in week 6 of HLM and am wondering what you would recommend next. Have 10 pounds left to lose, and am hopeful of some strength gains after getting on maintenance calories.

Bob,

Thanks for the kind words and for attending the seminar. It was great to have you!

As far as when to put in a long ride, I typically have folks do that on the weekend out of convention and typical schedules. I would prefer this to be on Saturday and then have your priority squat on Tuesday, doing days 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Weds, then Day 3 on Friday.

As far as what’s next, I’d do the powerbuilding template that’s about to come out!
