Ive been dealing with some back pain the last 5 months after straining my low back trying to get dressed and then aggravting it twice by deadlifting and not waiting enough to heal the injury. The area became very sensitive that nothing worked removed load down to BW i reduced rom still nothing. I decided to visit physios multiple times I wasted alot of money just to hear nothing. Then I decided to consult with you guys. I had a zoom call with Dr. Derek Miles he was very proffesional and understanding explained alot of things to me in the call and follow up emails and laid a rehab plan for me. The problem is that I haven’t made a single step to towards recovery yet the only thing that worked up until this moment was doing side planks it helped to desensitize the area and make my day to day better but i still can’t get back to powerlifitng. I really can’t help but feel sad and blame myself all day about this. Sorry for venting but do you think having another consultation with you guys is going to be worth it?
Sorry to hear about the persistent pain. I know that feel…it’s frustrating to say the least!
My thought here is that there may be a mismatch between the plan, the plan’s execution, and what you need to get back to unrestricted training. I think that’s best managed with an ongoing, high-touch, coaching relationship where you get regular feedback from a professional.
It seems like you’re willing to do the work, so provided you’re willing to follow the recommendations, I do think that you’d likely benefit from a consultation, yes. However, I would strongly encourage you to plan on an extended relationship where there are regular check-ins, exchanges of information, and updates to your plan based on how you’re doing. I really, really, really don’t like 1-time consultations unless someone is just on a fact-finding mission, you know?
I’m willing to take your recommendation Im very tight on budget right now As I’ve mentioned Ive spent tons of money on physios even visited an orthopedist just to prescribe me more physiotherapy after telling him that physio didn’t work which made me very furious to say the least. I never doubted BBM professionalism a second but I need to know that this is for me because I’ll be making a massive investment atm. Anw once again sorry for venting.
I get it, truly. My view on this is that if it were my money or a loved one’s, I’d want to spend on something that had the best odds of working AND setting me up for success in the future. I wouldn’t personally go with anyone else outside our Pain and Rehab team, which is why I hired them many years ago now (time flies).
Appreciate it Jordan. Heading to buy rehab coaching hopefully we can shed some light on this injury because it’s interfering with my life inside and outside of the gym.
