Hey I was wondering if anyone had any information on height and muscle gain. So its already known that taller lifters generally have larger frames and greater genetic potential than smaller lifters. But does this transfer over to rate of growth or phases as will? Will a smaller lifter become intermediate or advanced sooner than a tall lifter? And will a taller lifter for example continue growing at a constant rate instead of stagnating as smaller lifters may? Are there studies comparing athletes of different heights and their rate of muscle growth at the same height accounting for training and nutrition?
Do tall lifters stay beginners in terms of growth for longer? Or does it simply take twice as long at an advance stage for a taller lifter to fill out?
At this time we don’t have any evidence that supports that, no.
I haven’t seen this studied directly, no. However, we wouldn’t expect a taller lifter to respond better (or worse) to training than a shorter lifter, as there are a number of other inputs influencing training outcomes outside of height. There are huge variations in muscle mass and muscle strength within populations even when correcting for height
No- I wouldn’t use height as a predictive or modifiable factor for resistance training programming or outcome assessment at all.
