Hi to the BBM team! I’ve been training some years, had a lay off recently and looking to try out some templates and maybe get coaching in time?
I have some questions I was hoping could be answered if possible please?
-
Why is there a coach bias for barbell lifts? I can’t really put it another way. I know things can be subbed but most of all the BBM coaches I have seen all seem to train barbell movements? Is there a belief that they are superior or more optimal or do they just enjoy them more?
-
Do any of you ever take time off for life? Eg maybe having a bad food day because of a wedding, too many drinks or perhaps a week off any training when on vacation? I feel like a lot of BBM training content is about adherence and changing environments but assuming someone can be mostly adherent, is there actual room to switch off sometimes?

Where do you stand on BMI? It’s one of the most conflicting things I have read from BBM. I know it under diagnosis obesity but for trained people. But most people who train for strength sports pro or amateur alike I know even with under 37 inch waistlines are pretty heavy and stocky with BMI closing in or just over the 30 BMI mark - and they ain’t huge or anything? In fact many of them are under average height .
-
Why does Austin get to do all his cardio in one day on 10 mile runs but Jordan has to do it like every day?
-
If being CrossFit is more somebody’s thing what is the best template to buy?
thanks so much for random questions !

While barbells do offer certain unique advantages, we do not feel they are “superior” to other exercises, which offer unique advantages of their own. This is overwhelmingly a matter of enjoyment and personal preference; however, all of us also do a fair amount of non-barbell-based supplemental lifts, including machine exercises, dumbbell exercises, and many others that are not routinely “featured” in social media content.

Yes, of course this happens. We are human like everyone else.

Before we get into the details here, can you explain in a bit more detail where you’ve specifically found “conflicting” information on this from BBM? We want our content to be clear and straightforward here, so any opportunity to identify conflicts and improve it would be appreciated.

I don’t do all my cardio in one day.

That is what the Titan template is designed for.

You know what we really need? An updated forum code that numbers the responses in a better way.
I don’t have much to add, other than I really like training (even when it’s going poorly). I also really like training with a barbell, though I like it more now that only 1-2 lifts a day are with a barbell.
