Training, Creatine, Protein Supplements, effects on Conception

Hi BBM team,

This is going to be a little personal and I apologize for that, but I cannot find an answer via the wide webs or in this forum.

The question is, what are the effects of training, creatine, and protein supplements on conception.

I am a Father of two, early forties, I train 3 days a week using the beginner template I take 5mg of creatine (bulksupplements.com) once a day (I weigh it with a very precise scale) and usually have a scoop of protein powder (BBM whey) with it. I am in the low 190lbs and am 5’10" and am making progress on my lifting.

Wife does not train and takes lots of … beauty … vitamins like collagen.

The first two children were conceived within a month or two. This time is going on over 6-months and nothing.

Thanks

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this. Your training, creatine, or protein supplementation (note that whey protein is simply food) should not have any negative impact on conception.

Perfect, thank you!

Creatine supplementation will not affect your ability to conceive. 5 mg of creatine is the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for creatine, and this is exceeded by taking 1 serving of most creatine products. The Good Food Book, a book by the FDA, has determined that creatine is safe for consumption, and there are no known issues for consumption by pregnant women and nursing mothers.

So I would say that creatine is safe for consumption if you are trying to conceive. Creatine is not a steroid. The effect of creatine on sperm mobility is still not completely understood. If you are concerned about creatine’s effect on sperm mobility, then stop taking creatine. If you are not concerned and want to take creatine, it will not affect your ability to get pregnant. you can also try prenatal vitamins for conceiving

for conception you can try prenatal vitamins.

Unfortunately, there is no study out there which documents the effects of these supplements on conception, and the reason is that these supplements are usually not a problem, and since the companies that sell these supplements are not interested in research projects which document their ineffectiveness, there is no data. Now, I can confidently say that training, creatine and protein supplements have no effect on whether you will conceive or not.
