Hello, as far as I’m aware the research on trans fats is to ideally keep them at zero as even a little bit seems to be bad for one’s health. Is this only when deep frying PUFAs they will wind up in your diet? I’ve been eating a lot of the JIF regular peanut butter and wondering if the hydrogenated oils in it will leave trace amounts of trans fats I’m consuming. I know that the vast majority of fats should be MUFAs and PUFAs from fatty fish and so on. I’ve been eating lots of peanut butter sandwiches because bulking is quite hard for me to get the calories in.
Great question! Trans fats, which are partially hydrogenated oils, have been banned from the food supply in the US since 2020 and earlier in many other countries . Fully hydrogenated oils are not trans fats and are used in foods for stability, to prevent spoiling, etc. If you look on the label, JIF uses fully hydrogenated oils, which are not trans fats.
