Upper Back Pain post Deadlift/Rows

Good Morning

For the past few weeks, I have been experiencing upper back pain between the spine and shoulder blade region. It’s most severe after deadlifting, but will also show-up after days involving rows. It can be breath-taking the night after training if I try to move certain ways. I have used a lacrosse ball to work the area and that seems to help immediately, but then symptoms show-up the next morning, albeit not as severe. There have been some nights where I wake up in the middle of the night to a tingling sensation in both hands as if they’re “asleep”. I continue to train through it since it doesn’t really affect training days, but I am starting to wonder if there could be more to this and what I could possibly do to help alleviate the situation.

Thank you for your help

Hey,

Sorry to here about these issues.

Can you provide some background information - age? How long has this been ongoing? Any recent traumas?

Given your symptoms - I recommend getting a consultation.

Hi Dr. Ray and thank you for your response.

I’m 30 years of age with no recent traumas. This has been going on since shortly after starting the current workout template, which was 4 weeks ago.

I am scheduled for a yearly checkup today and will mention it to the Dr. and see what they say.

Thank you

Steve
