I’ve seen the waist measurement video and scoured the forum for answers, but haven’t seen this completely addressed. Should a waist measurement be taken completely relaxed, in a natural standing posture or flexed. I can get markedly different results based on the way I am positioned during measurement. I’m assuming the measurement should be taken while totally relaxed.
Is it recommended to measure after exhaling (without consciously flexing the abs)? For me it’s about a 1” difference depending on how much air I’ve taken in/ breathed out.
Or us this more of a “doesn’t matter” thing, as someone who is within 1” of their respective cutoff should likely either be maintaining weight and/or reducing body fat regardless?
No, it’s not recommended to try and exhale/suck in, etc. when measuring the waist. Stand up straight, measure the waist as described in the video and see what you’re working with.
If you’re close to 37 or 40", you should probably reduce body fat, yes.
