Weight loss advice

I feel a little lost with my goal of reducing waist circumference to under 37 inches (would to see my abs again as a secondary goal lol). I’ve made some progress, though and hoping for advice on where to go from here

Male, 32 yo, 6’
Starting weight/waist as of about 4 months ago: 217lbs, 40”
Current weight/waist: 196lbs, 38 1/2”

Macros (roughly) spread over 4 meals:
200g protein (225/235g increase as of 5 days ago)
300-330g carbs
60-80g fat
8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables daily

These are roughly the same macros I started with when making initial dietary changes.

Have completed beginner template and currently on Powerbuilding I

Concerns:
I am surprised over -20lbs later than my waist size hasn’t actually decreased by that much. Makes me think I’m losing more LBM than necessary. I went a little too hard and lost 4-5 pounds last week. Trying to shoot for about 2 lbs weekly.
The variability of my fat and carb intake comes from navigating family dinners, though I’ve never gone above the top end of those macro ranges. I’ve tried to regulate these macros consistently, but as you can imagine, it’s been difficult working around people who don’t have the same weight loss goals. I could probably push harder to tighten that up. Most of my dietary fat intake occurs around dinner.

thanks for your time as always!

I don’t think you’ve likely lost a bunch of LBM given your activity level and protein intake, but rather are losing fat from other areas.

I think if you’re consistently losing weight week-to-week then you’re on the right track. If not, I’d reduce Calories further and would be doing some HIIT a few times a week.

Good job sticking with it so far. That’s great progress.

Ok  thanks. Would those HIIT sessions be in addition to the GPP cardio in the powerbuilding 1 template? And would you recommend adding an HIIT session as needed, or start doing all the HIIT sessions at once, maybe adding 1 per week until I’m doing all three, or something like that?

Thanks again for your time and the encouragement! Means a lot

I think starting with the HIIT in the template would be a fine place to begin and then ramp it up to 2-3x towards the middle of the template.

Ok, sounds good. Looking forward to implementing this  thanks so much again for your advice
