Hi everyone, I just recently ended my 18 week caloric deficit. Changes in parameters are as follows:
Weight: 78.1 kg - 67.5 kg
Waist circumference: 90.5 cm - 77.5 cm
It is to my knowledge that maintaining the new bodyweight for a few weeks after an extended caloric deficit is beneficial and I am doing that now. I bumped up my calories from ~ 1600+ kcal to ~ 1900+ kcal. However, as of the past 4 days, my weight has steadily been increasing from about 67.6 kg to 68.5 kg today. Thus, would like to know when is the point that I need to cut back my calories so as to ensure a caloric balance.
There are a few confounders that could potentially explain this weight gain, so I’m unsure if my weight gain is due to caloric imbalance or these confounders:
Started taking in creatine on the same day as beginning weight maintenance
Started getting close to 30 g of fibre since weight maintenance
Creatine has water retention effects, but does it affect bodyweight so quickly in just 4 days? Also, does fiber have any impact on water retention as well? Or do none of these explain the weight gain and its purely due to a caloric surplus.
