Weight to Height Ratio?

Hi,

Search function has been failing me (or I’m terrible, assuming the latter)

Is there a general weight per height ratio that one should be looking for?

For example I’m 6’7" (200cm for our metric friends) and 232ish lbs (105kg). I don’t think I’m close to my potential yet with my current LP progression, but I’m curious as to what, if any kind of ratio has been discovered or aimed for regarding weight vs height.

BMI seems a bit dated (I’m ‘maxing’ it for ‘healthy’ atm), just curious how far one should/would push this.

Hels,

Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum. That said, we do have to approve each of your posts so be patient rather than posting 3-4 times about the same thing.

As far as your question, no there is not a general weight to height ratio that is generally useful for predicting anything despite this metric being used by the Metropolitan Life Insurance company in the early to mid 20th century. Fast forward to the 1970’s when BMI, which is a person’s bodyweight divided by their height squared, was put forth as a more accurate replacement for the weight:height ratio and it was subsequently adopted by the World Health Organization as a screening tool for obesity in the 90’s. That said, there are many drawbacks to using BMI alone, but that is for a different post. Interestingly, BMI IS very old (1700’s) but can be very useful when combined with a waist circumference. We talk about this extensively on our podcasts and a number of articles, which I’d recommend checking out.

As it stands, there are no optimal ratio for height to weight , but you should definitely watch your waist line and keep it under 39". Finally, LP is probably going to last about 3 months and I wouldn’t be super geeked out about fulfilling your potential there. It’s just going to run its course in a short period of time.

Copy, apologies for the spam, didn’t read that little rule until after the third submission.

Unfortunately the Air Force holds me to a standard of 35-39" waist, but that’s neither here nor there.
