Which template to choose

Hello there.
First of all, thanks for doing what you do, learning from the channel helped me to make a lot of progress in my training lately. Wish I found it earlier.

Some background info before I ask my questions. I have been doing barbell training for more than a year now, Im a 21 years old male weighing 205 lbs, with bodyfat a bit above 20%. My main goal is increasing strength in the powerlifts, but currently I want to lose a bit of weight.

So my two main questions are

  1. For my current goal of losing some fat and preventing muscle loss as much as possible, while still not deviating too much from training the powerlifts, which program would you recommend? One of the hypertrophy templates, or one of the powerbuilding templates?
  2. Is it a good idea to run the Hypertrophy II/Powerbuilding II template if I didnt previously run the Hypertrophy I/Powerbuilding I template? I read it is recommended that one runs Hypertrophy I/PB I prior to running the II templates, but I also have more training experience than the recommended >6-9 months in the Hypertrophy II/PB II templates.

I’d do PB I unless you’ve been training for a substantial period of time at a higher frequency. Let us know how it goes!

I have been training 4 times a week (benching 4 times, squating 3 times, and deadlifting 2 times weekly) in the past 3 months, before that I was mostly doing lower frequency, especially for upper body movements. Does that count as substantial?

That’s great, but I don’t think that’s an extensive enough training history to bump you to PB II and thus, I’d still do PB I in this case.
