worth running 12 week strength program again?

7 year lifter, 6ft 198lbs. 425 squat, 540 dead, 275 bench

Just ran the 12 week strength, hit some small PR’s on all lifts and considering running it again however I am curious if I should even expect to hit new PR’s because I feel that at my current weight and amount of muscle mass my lifts are what they are and for them to improve I need to get bigger. Since I would consider this program to be fairly low volume compared to my past training, would I be better off doing a higher volume/hypertrophy phase? Hopefully this makes sense. I enjoyed the program but don’t want to spend another 3 months training to hit the same numbers.

Thanks!

What’s your experience been like over the last 7 years. Have you found that alternating hypertrophy and strength programs has worked well for you. That is the recommendation you’ll receive here, as it will help to re-sensitize you, build muscle mass and develop strength in a somewhat different context. However, that’s a general recommendation.

What are your goals? Are you looking to compete soon? If you are going to do a more hypertrophy focused program and you compete then a powerbuilding program may be a better fit that pure hypertrophy. Generic advice would be do the 4 day powerbuilding template and then go back to 12 week strength. On the second run through of 12 week strength, after a hypertrophy program, consider modifying it based on your experience this time around and your overall training experience. Good luck!
