Young with osteoarthritis in one knee

I’m relatively young (mid 30’s) and I’ve been seeing one of my knees not doing as well in the other in the past couple years. I’ve had a couple knee surgeries when I was younger and now have more injuries (ACL, Meniscus, and OA). I’m being recommended a major surgery to correct the alignment of my leg to prevent me from needing to get a knee replacement too early (they think in 10 years I will one).

Does anyone have any resources or studies on osteoarthritis and valgus deformity due to injury in adults or have you experienced this as well? I’m seeking my own information about the outcomes of pt versus surgical interventions.

cheers

Hi there,

We have a general resource on osteoarthritis here, as well as a few accompanying podcasts on the topic. However, I think that the best way to get an individualized expert opinion on your situation would be via a consultation with our rehab team. Even research studies may not necessarily be exactly applicable to your individual situation & injury history.
