Hi Drs,
on cs and cb on week 1 day 1 my singles at 8rpe definitely felt like 8s. I removed 20% from
my single and proceeded to 5x5. My sets felt no way near 9rpe. More like 7rpe.
What may I have calculated wrong etc?
thanks

Hi There, your 5 sets of 5 should not at all feel like RPE 9, so I’d have you carry on as you are doing-rate the single and then drop the 20% as indicated in the template.
On the program tab it gives you a percentage guide which tells you the 5x5 should be around 73%. If you look at the RPE chart tab you’ll see for a set of five 73% isn’t even on there.
Hi Leah thanks. I guess I was confused by the * that said the remove 3-5% from bar to keep it at rpe9. ?
So, should the sets of five actually be at around rpe7 in practice or not?
No, not at all. There are multiple programming options at work in templates (and some of the general directions need to be cleaned up to reflect this). If the program calls for a set of 5 at a given RPE, that’s the aim. If it calls for a percentage drop, that’s the aim. There are all kinds of programming tools to use!
It could be possible that the sets of five might feel like a @7 because gauging RPE that low can be difficult. Which, not to speak for BBM mind, is probably one of the reasons a percentage drop is used instead.
