45* hip extension exercise in Beginner Gen 2 Standard template

The new Beginner Gen 2 Standard template suggests the 45* hip extension as a “Trunk” exercise. When I do the exercise I feel the effort in my glutes and hamstrings. Is that considered part of the “Trunk,” or am I not doing the exercise correctly?

Most people wouldn’t consider the hamstrings part of the trunk, but the glutes probably do. I don’t really think about the trunk like that, or particularly try to achieve a specific feeling in a muscle group or area. Rather, I try to load the parts of the body to generate the desired adaptation. Yes, the hip and back extension both require the posterior chain (glutes, hamstrings, etc.) to aid in the movement. However, both movements require the erectors, deep back muscles, and some of the anterior “trunk” muscles to work pretty hard. I’m good with this
