Acromioclavicular ligament (shoulder) sprain.

Hello

I am trying to get back into training after years of not training and covid weight gain but have been having issues with my shoulder. saturday I did the following workout::

20 minutes rower

Back Squats 3x8
Bench Press 3x8
Barebell Row 3x8
Dead lift 1x8

All done at light weights under 100lbs.

That night my shoulder was in a lot of pain. The same thing happened to me back in August. Then the doc at Kaiser diagnosed with with the above sprain. Prescribed Ibuprofen, ice and rest. Now the same thing has happened. I have again taken Ibuprofen and iced it.

I am wondering what are the probably causes and how can I prevent future pain?

Hey cliffordsimmons - thanks for the questions and sorry to hear about your recent shoulder symptoms. Although an A/C sprain is possible, such a label likely wouldn’t change my recommendations based on the context you’ve supplied here. Check out this article HERE to learn a general approach to modify training for your situation. Also, give our podcast on shoulder pain and rehab a listen, HERE. Highly probably you just did too much too soon and got some shoulder symptoms out of it. We’d be happy to consult and provide individual advice. If this is something you are interested in, please complete our intake paperwork HERE.

Thank you for the reply. I will read and listen to those resources!
