Acute Pain left side over ribs

Experiencing intense burning pain over/around intercostal/mid-upper ribs on the left side (located along the bottom line of lats). Pain is an absolute zero on the radar unless the area is being touched or inadvertently brushed, which results in immediate and intense pain.

Not aware of any specific event that caused it. First noticed it when I rolled over the wrong way in the morning. There has been no improvement over 10 days. During that time, I make it though most days only accidentally triggering the pain through contact once or twice. During the last 10 days I’ve trained like I normally would, and the pain has not presented during any barbell / kinaesthetic movement (not even the ones I thought might be an issue, like pull-ups, RDLS, rows, and bench.)

My “Plan A” was to wait it out since disruption to my life is quite minimal, but there has been no improvement and a slight trend toward triggering the pain more often / in more positions.

Asking here to see if anyone has any insight re: possible intercostal strain, how long they take to heal, if it might be advisable to consider scaling back weight training for a while to allow it to heal - which I’m loathe to do, particularly since training is not currently affected.

Thanks in advance!

StudentAndrew - thanks for the questions and sorry to hear about your situation. It’s difficult for us to give insight on your situation without consulting with you. Given this has been ongoing for 10 days and appears to be worsening (more easily provoked symptoms), may be worth consulting with your local physician to discuss the matter and ensure nothing else is ongoing necessitating a different approach than our usual recommendations.
