Hi, new to forum. I squat twice a week and want to add in box squats what is a good frequency?
This is largely based on your previous training history and what you have determined works best based on your experience. That being said, three squatting slots a week seems to work well for many of the people that run SSLP, the Bridge, and other BBM templates. I would also ask why are you selecting to add in box squats? I would usually recommend other variants that (in my opinion) transfer over to the normal squat more specifically.
I squat twice a week. Just wanted to add something new and try a dead stop style squat
Not an expert but box squats are commonly used by westside-style lifters who squat wide, high and wear gear. Pause squats and pin squats are normally prescribed around here for us raw lifters.
Highly recommend you do a 0-2-0 tempo squat (2 second pause at the bottom) instead of going straight to a box. This is a great exercise as it uses no additional equipment or movement patterns and makes you come out of the hole without the bounce. A box has a few ways it can be done incorrectly (such as rocking back on to and off of it).
