Hi Jordan, first off thank you for providing this service. Found you guys through Alan Thrall’s you tube channel, and have been binging on all your great information every since.
So quick breakdown of myself. I’m a 43 year old male, who started back on strength training 4 months ago after a 10 year hiatus. In those ten years I went from a very athletic and reasonable strong person, to a very out of shape and bad health person. 6 months ago I was 260lbs, extremely high cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure. I’ve since lost 50lbs, and am no longer on any medication for any of those things as my levels are now in optimal range.
So 4 months ago I started back on training and hit the LP model and did that for 3 months until I found you guys. I purchased the Beginner program 3 weeks ago, and am about to start my 3rd week on the program, which I’m really enjoying. My current stats are 6” at 207lbs, but still carrying significant fat in the waist area with a 42” waist.
My question is not about whether or not I need to continue losing weight, as I’m pretty sure the answer is yes due to me being in the high risk category with waist circumference. My question is that I’ve been in a caloric deficit for 6 months with exception to a 1 week vacation back in January. I have read that when in a caloric deficit for that long it is recommended to take a break and eat at maintenance for a couple weeks and then start back up. Do you have any thoughts and opinions on this theory, and what would you recommend for me as next steps. My plan was to get to 190 as I feel that is the weight I will have to be for the waist circumference to be in the healthy range. Then I would slowly build back up with lean body mass to 200-205 which is where I’m most comfortable.
Thanks again for everything you guys do.
