Age and 1RM estimates

I am 63 and weigh 94 kg. In the squat I can do fives on 190 but my 1RM is 210. Does the extrapolation from reps to singles become less predicable with age?

How much of your training is devoted to training sets of 5?

How much of your training involves practicing heavy singles?

Mostly sets of 5.

Sounds like you need to practice singles more.

Doing 5s primarily gets you better at doing 5s, with progressively less carryover to other rep ranges. It won’t get you as good at performing singles as actually practicing singles will.
