Hello BBM. Any opinions about the current AI apps for calorie counting etc.?
Are they worth it or should I stick to classic apps like MyFitnessPal?
Thanks!
I do not think AI in a nutrition app is likely to affect outcomes, e.g. weight loss, maintenance, etc. If someone likes a particular app, great…but I don’t see a role for AI that improves success here.
Hello and thanks for the response. It’s just the convenience of just taking a picture and not adding calories manually. That’s how I’m thinking about it.
Not trying to beat this to death, but the error in AI-generated nutrition data is sufficient to be worth many pounds, all else being equal. Fortunately (or unfortunately), dietary intake has quite a bit of fudge in it, with intake varying significantly from day to day…even when nutrition professionals are tracking.
If using an AI tool helps someone be more conscious of their diet and improves their dietary pattern, that’s cool with me.
Alright, got it. Thanks again!
