(Another) blood sugar/diabetes question

Hello Drs.,

I will probably be visiting a healthcare professional some time in the near future, but I thought I’d run this by you guys to see what you thought…

Just a bit of background info:

Age:36
Height: 5’5 (166cm)
Weight: 148lbs
WC: 32in

Blood sugar test in Feb 2021:

FBS 119.0 Normal range (70.00 - 100.00 mg/dl)
HGBA1C 5.50 Normal range (4.20 - 6.50%)

I would like to think that I am living a significantly more active (and therefore healthier) lifestyle in the past 6-7 months thanks to your training templates and content on health and nutrition.

However, I have developed (random) itching all over the body which I noticed about 4-5 months ago. They come and they go but there are no signs of allergies/rashes/insect bites etc. There have been no changes in my lifestyle or life stressors other than the fact that I have increased protein intake to about 1.6g/kg bodyweight for the past 6 weeks and I feel fine otherwise.

I was told that it could have something to do with my blood sugar.

That said, how common is itching in relation to people that are pre-diabetic and diabetic respectively?

I’m not aware of any relationship with blood sugars in your range causing issues with itching.

Thank you!
