I have an employee who recently was diagnosed with Avascular Nacreous. He is 35 years old and was/is athletic but has never lifted. Currently he has a limp and is difficult to run. He was told he will need both hips replaced by 50. Was wondering if any of the traditional lifts squats/DL would help perhaps slow the deterioration or reverse the condition or any other hip-centric exercises. Thank you for taking my question.
bump for response.
AVN is a complicated issue, and can be tricky to make recommendations for without a lot more clinical information, including why the AVN happened (if known). With that said, there is no training that would “reverse” this condition, although if they are cleared for exercise it will be important to maintain as much physical function as possible.
Thanks Austin. I will pass this on.
