Hello Doctors,
Today I was doing sumo deadlifts, and on the first rep of my second working set, I felt very strong pain in my hamstrings or something at the back of the knee. This happened probably an inch or less from lockout. I stopped immediately, and then did a few more test reps and decided to call it. After a while, I tried extending my leg with a force applied so that the hamstrings were eccentrically loaded, just to see if I could replicate it. What I discovered is that when I get really close to full knee extension (with hamstrings eccentrically loaded) pain is felt. Then I feel a pretty significant twinge (abrupt soft tissue movement, like something moving over another.) and then the pain dissipates pretty much completely once fully locked out… Should I be concerned? I remember on the last warm-up set, I felt a similar, yet less painful twinge (looking back on it, I always feel a slight twinge doing sumo on both sides), which maybe aggrevated it? It doesn’t feel as if it will hurt doing conventional deadlifts or squats. Thanks.
