Pain on outside of lower hip/upper femur during eccentric part of deadlift

I have a strange, slight pain when lowering my deadlift at the top of the femur on the side. The pain is light and localized and is only when the bar reaches the bottom of the thigh. At that point it then “gives out.” The pain is not concerning, but the “giving out” is. This happens at warm-up weights (RPE 4-5?). I don’t feel it at all when doing squats to include very heavy squats (e.g. 1@9, 4@9).

Anyone else experience this before? Any idea what muscle, tendon, etc. it is? How did it resolve itself for you?

I’m assuming some rest and NSAIDs should do the trick, but would like to hear anyone’s experiences to adjust my programming.
