Back Tweak or something else?

Around a month ago my low back started hurting a few hours after a heavy deadlift workout

I’ve been deadlifting for a while so I know how sore erectors feel but this was a kind of pain I never experienced before ( Never had back pain before really)

I felt nothing unusual during the workout besides that it was hard even though It was a weight I had done before and not some kind of crazy PR attempt (I actually retore a callus that workout and was bummed I had to stop deadlifting before I came back home)

It mostly hurts during flexion especially when the muscles are completely relaxed, I looked up something called the SLUMP test and that seems to exactly cause and exacerbate the symptoms

No tingling/numbness/burning or anything radiating to my legs or other areas

Symptoms have improved since then but it’s still sensitive and painful in the same positions

I’ve watched and read lots of the resources you guys have on back pain (Grateful for them, really) so I’m trying to keep myself optimistic and I am continuing to train through it (With considerations to RPE and loads)

  1. Is this more likely to be a back tweak or could this be a Disc Bulge/Herinated disc/something else?

  2. Is there anything I can do to speed up healing or resolving the symptoms besides exercise ? I know recovery isn’t linear and that most of low back pain resolves by 4-6 weeks but I really wanna do everything I can to be pain free asap.

Would appreciate any advice or feedback on this

Welcome to the journey! Have you read these articles? Well worth internalizing to avoid this turning into a chronic pain in the ass like it did for me and many others.

  1. Pain =/= “damage”, especially when it comes to low back pain
  2. Imaging doesn’t correlate well with pain, i.e. disc herniations, so better not to fixate on what is “wrong”. Many people with back pain and nothing to show on imaging, and if I recall correctly, Jordan has mentioned he has several herniations on MRI but has never had LBP (this is relatively common).

Hey!

Yeah I already saw these videos and I really wouldn’t want this to turn into a chronic pain that’s why I asked if there’s anything else I can do for this besides training, symptoms have been pretty constant for the past 2 weeks. I do not plan on getting imaging at this point.
