Barbell Medicine

Hi all,

I saw in the newsletter today that Barbell Medicine might be having a seminar in Florida that I would fly in for. How different are the seminars from a Starting Strength seminar? I ask because I may want to purchase a seat for my 60 year old mother. She has never seriously trained in her life, but from having gone to the Starting Strength seminar, it would be appropriate to have no experience and still attend. Is this the case for Barbell medicine or is this more geared towards intermediate trainees?

They are two totally different seminars. The Barbell Medicine seminar does share the platform segment with the SS seminar, e.g. the squat, bench, press, and deadlift are all covered. However, the lecture material is 100% different, there is almost zero time spent on physics, coaching, etc. The SS seminar is an absolute “must attend” for folks who want to coach or be ensconced in the SS methodology, whereas the BBM seminar is more for folks who have already taken the SS seminar, are health care professionals/coaches, folks who work with special populations, or folks who are training who have an interest in medicine.
