BBM HLM Template Modifications

Hello BBM Team,

I just finished running the legacy BBM HLM template and would like to run it again, but I’m curious about making some modifications to the template as written.

1). I would like to continue to practice singles @ 8 through the entire 8 week block instead of just the second half. Is this okay? Would you advise dropping the last back-off set to offset the 1 @ 8?

2). Any concerns with using sets of 5 (first 4 weeks) and sets of 3 (second 4 weeks) instead of 6s and 4s for the competition lifts. Just interested in handling slightly heavier weights for a short period of time.

3). If time limited is there any issue with spreading out the workload while still completing the prescribed lifts? For example, I would like to squat and press on Monday, but complete the supplemental dead lift exercise on Tuesday (and do some other accessory work that day).

  1. It’s not really a powerlifting template, but sure- you could try that. I wouldn’t advise dropping the last back off set, no.

  2. No concerns. It’s just different- not necessarily better or worse.

  3. No concerns with spreading things out if you need.

Thank you for reply. One quick follow up - When running the templates back to back, is there any need for a pivot/deload week, or is the first week low enough stress to basically serve that purpose?

I think that the low stress weeks kicking off most of our templates will work in most cases, save for individual needs :slight_smile:
