Beginner template after a short layoff

Greetings,

Little about me. 38yo male, busy job and family life, started lifting 2 years ago. SSLP, 4 day split, garage gym warrior before discovering you guys. I’ve been very pleased with the BBM templates I’ve run including legacy 3 and 4 day hypertrophy, and Bridge 3.0.

My family and I have moved out of our house while we do a home renovation and alas, I won’t have access to my garage gym for about 2 months. I’m going to try to get some sessions in at the YMCA but honestly, my frequency is going to be spotty at best.

My question to the forum is, how much of the beginner template have you seen people do after a short layoff? I plan to start the General strength and conditioning template after the beginner template but I don’t know if I should run the 12+ weeks or if the initial 4 weeks will be sufficient to get me back on track.

Thank you for all the content you guys provide. It has been enjoyable training in your style.

Eddie,

Thanks for the post and I hope you’re doing well. Hope the renovations are going well!

While we’d certainly advise trying to maintain some regular training, e.g. 2x/wk resistance training while getting about 20-30 min of aerobic activity in per day, it may be that this isn’t something you can swing with your other commitments (I’d try hard though!).

In any event, I’d probably start you on phase III of the beginner template and see how long it “works” for you. After you stall out, move on to another program.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Jordan! I’ll start on phase 3 when I can back to a regular schedule. I agree about getting in at least 2 training sessions a week plus some aerobic activity. That’s the goal and I’m going to try. Some weeks will be better than others but such is life.

Thanks again for all you do and I’m bummed I wasn’t able to make the STL seminar. That’s the weekend we were moving out of the house. I hope you guys come back.

Eddie

Yessir, we’ll see you next time we’re in St. Louis!
