Beginner template - split squat

Hey,

next week I start the second phase of the beginner template. Since I work out at home I don’t have access to a leg press and replaced the exercise with a split squat. According to the template I should be doing those for 10 reps. Is it 10 reps each leg or 5 reps on one leg and then 5 on the other?
