Bicep tendinopathy and rotator cuff plan of attack

Good day doctors.

been dealing with bicep tendinopathy and a rotator cuff issue since December.

every pressing movement is a major pain as is squatting with my normal grip, so I’ve magyvered some straps to the bar to squat pain free since I don’t have access to an SSB.

I’ve been doing plenty of rehab exercises, and I backed off all pressing movements. So I’m making incremental tiny gains towards hopefully being able to press pain free again.

strength is still probably 50% due to pain threshold, so I was just checking if it would make sense within the context of running BBII or PB3 to use my slingshot and bench block to allow me to touch some heavier weight while offloading enough that it doesn’t set me back.

or is it better to just do the tempo work?

I’m basically just trying to maintain a modicum of chest gains, since even flies hurt in my arm and delt past a certain point.

I would not try to find strategies to keep lifting weights beyond your current capacity in the course of tendinopathy rehab. It is more likely to keep things sensitive and draw the process out longer than it is to help. Once you get it fully desensitized and can return to normal training, you should be able to re-build strength again.

With that said, if the other side is pain-free, you can certainly use unilateral movements on that side to maintain a bit more training stress.
