Can I use rows instead of power cleans? What weight?

Hi Docs: previously untrained 56 yo
5’8’‘’
169lbs
in week 8 of nlp
squat @ 220 x 5 x 3
bench 130 x 5 x 3
press 87.5 x 5 x 3
dead lift 270 x 5

Only deadlifting once a week. Chins the other days. I haven’t been successful power cleaning. Can’t get the form. I need to get to the one ssc in Jersey.
Should I do barbell rows to support my deadlift? If yes, how much weight should I start with?
Thank you…Tony

You can, yes. I would work up to a weight that represents a challenge that day- typically for a set of 8. You can estimate this based on bar speed or relative effort. I’d do 3 sets of 8.

What about high pulls? They’re easier than cleans and involve more of a hinge than a row. Your thoughts? (“It’s all good” I’m guessing?)
