Changing exercises in The Bridge

I might be mistaken, but I think I read somewhere in this forum about changing the Press in The Bridge with the Bench Press. Is that possible and if it is, would it yield more bench press gains or is pressing like an another of pressing without tiring the pecs too much. If it is possible, what sets/rep ranges would change or would they remain the same and what variation of the bench press would I use?

You would likely get more improvement on the bench by bench pressing more, yes.

There’s no “correct” or “optimal” variation to use in that slot, but you could use a simple touch-and-go bench with the same rep ranges.

So this is how my week of bench would look like:
Monday: Close grip
Wednesday: Instead of Pressing for 5@6, 5@7, 5@8 x4 sets I do the same but just touch and go bench press with the same thing
Friday: Bench Press 1ct.
