For the simple reason that I enjoy going to the gym more often for fun and for stress and anxiety reduction, I’d like to split one of my three workout days into two separate days. I currently workout Monday, and was considering splitting it into squats on Monday, then press and deadlift/row on Tuesday. I also like to think (based on precisely zero evidence) that doing this will allow me to do more total assistance work and thus progress faster and/or experience additional hypertrophy. I’m willing to re-evaluate this plan should it be contraindicated by the good doctors. Is this an OK idea?
The novice LP really doesn’t last that long anyway, and it doesn’t involve any assistance work. Furthermore, it’s unlikely that adding a large amount of assistance work to the novice program will allow you to progress even faster than the standard 5-10 lbs per session increases.
I’d just run the program, and once it stalls you can move on to a 4-day intermediate program and do whatever you want.
