Cramping

Over the last 2-3 months it seems I’ve had a significant increase in muscle cramping. Not while I’m lifting but in the evenings in particular. It does not seem isolated to any part of my body either. I’ve felt them in the middle of my feet, hamstrings, middle of the back, forearms, calves, shoulders, just about anywhere there’s a possibility of a cramp. They will sometimes be intense for one minute or so and then I “work it out” and I’m fine. Could this be a lack of potassium or sodium?

So muscle fatigue is a big cause and outside of just stretching out the cramping muscle, not much can be done. Got it. The dehydration and electrolyte explanation has been around for a while. Since the source attached to the link, Cramps, Spasms, Twitches & Tremors, explains that those things do not cause cramping, why was that so widely spread as a cause?

Maybe because hypocalcemia (low calcium concentrations in the blood) cause tetany. I don’t know.
