Deadlift/Rack pull grip

I am into week three on The Bridge 1.0 having come into it without much deadlifting experience. For a variety of dumb reasons I never did LP on my deadlifts. I’m doing the program pretty faithfully now though (although I admit that my assessment of RPE still needs work). My question is regarding my grip for deadlifting and rack pulls. I’m only at 200 lbs but find that my grip strength is limiting me. As I fatigue, I find that the bar rolls into my fingertips.

Should I use straps or is 200 lbs too light to consider straps? Would chalk help? Or should I just work on holding the lifts at the top a bit longer to train my grip?

Thanks for any advice.

Sunil

Generally, here we recommend using straps for deadlift supplementals. Your grip will get trained and improve on your competition deadlift. Also, if you’re not already, I would use mixed or hook grip instead of double overhand for competition deadlifts.

What he said. Your grip will improve with more deadlifts, use straps for any weight you feel like you need them.
