Deadlift Shoes

I have been pulling in Metcons for quite a long time now and noticed how thick the sole in those shoes are. I see that the BBM guys recommend the Nike Davinho, however I cant find any online in a 9.5. I have also looked into the Adidas Samba (and will remove the insole) but I am curious if anyone has any experience pulling in these? I know I can get wrestling shoes but I am not a huge fan. I also want something a little more secure than chuck taylors.

You should look at eBay if you haven’t already. You may be able to find a pair hardly worn or never worn in a 9.5

Why are chucks not secure for deadlifting?

I have ripped 3 pairs of them where the midsole meets the upper canvas. I also don’t love the thin canvas feeling and the shoe itself just don’t fit very well on my feet

You must be pulling way big numbers. My weak deadlifts don’t stress my Chucks at all it seems

The Sabo Deadlift shoe isn’t bad. The ankle strap was too small to fit around my ankle but otherwise pretty decent so far. I bought them on Amazon in 9.5M in an ugly bright yellow color. They seem to have improved the selection since.

I’ve been using New Balance Minimus shoes. You look like a ninja but I really like how close they are to the ground and how grippy they are. You can wear with or without socks. They are very easy to pack around too.

I use Vivobarefoot shoes. They are flat shoes (zero drop) with a 3mm sole and allow the toes to spread out. I wear them for GPP as well. Love them (I have three other pairs, one of which is a dressy leather boot and the other is a casual/everyday suede boot). I love being barefoot and these are the closest to being barefoot while wearing shoes. I did the Vibram Five Fingers, but their build quality is a bit meh, especially between the toes, and my wife won’t be seen dead with me wearing them. So they are now gone.
