Deadlifting Barefoot. Good or Bad (or neither) For Arches?

I have heard that deadlifting barefoot is either good or bad for your arches. Some claim it strengthens your feet and arches. Others claim that if you lift heavy too often in bare feet you can get flat feet. Is this true or some bro sciencey nonsense?

I don’t compete, so don’t need to worry that I couldn’t go without shoes in competition, and like to deadlift in socks only. Is this ok or am I going to end up with Geico caveman feet?

I don’t think it alters foot “strength” or “health” at all. I think most folks in the fitness space discussing feet do so in error.
