I am 43 yrs old, 215. Been lifting for 20 something yrs. In order to reduce the load on the cns would it be accepted to do three sets on dead’s instead of one(theoretically reducing weight)? Or is this too much “ work” for the deadlift?
What does your current training look like, and where did that programming setup come from?
M: pressing 35/ triceps 35/ weak arm work 25
Tu: Squat 35/RDLs 35
Th: rack bench@ chest 35/ inclines 33/ forearm work - barbell holds 1@30 seconds max, back off set same duration
F: dead’s normally 15/ pull-ups 35/rows 35(no body swing)
I run the squats and dead’s up 5 lbs a week for about 10ish weeks. Same on bench and presses. I dont always do 5’s.but I can get stuck in a rut. This usually what my friend had me do with various rep adjustments and exercise changes. Like strict press instead of rippetoe presses. That one really worked for me. I’m on my own now because he has past. Sometimes I feel like I shoot myself in the foot with my workouts. 355 on squats for 8 one week, next I barely get 365 for 4.
