I’m wondering about everyone’s thoughts on using my ceiling mounted pull up bar as a rack for squats. I am thinking of making some steel bars to hook onto the pull up bar which are then hooked at the other end to allow for me to rest a barbell and weight on. This would allow me to rack the weight from a squat position without having to buy and store a bulky and expensive squat rack. Thoughts?
I would be very concerned about slamming into the uprights with a couple hundred pounds and not having that rip the ceiling out
Personally, I would absolutely not cheap out that much on a rack. A few hundred dollars can get you a really safe one with a weight capacity that you won’t exceed. If you’re barbell training, you owe it to yourself to get a good bar and a good rack
