I saw a post from 2017 where you (Jordan) said you thought 7 hours was optimal. I just wanted to see if you’ve changed your mind or have seen any evidence that may contradict that.

That said, data tends to show the average amount of sleep correlating with great health is ~ 7 hours. Some of this is artifice, as those spending far more time in bed tend to be sick and those who don’t sleep that much are generally at higher risk of disease. That said, the “optimal” amount of sleep is not a singular value and varies person to person. Aiming for 7 to 8 is reasonable, if I’m forced to play this game.
Heh, my answer is remarkably similar. I remain optimistic that people will appreciate the additional nuance provided in various threads discussing this topic. You’ll note I didn’t say “I think 7 hours is optimal”, but rather report the current data’s suggestion. Pretty much all I can do about something I believe to be highly individualized.
