What considerations should be made when training and not getting optimal sleep? I have 4 kids, a new born, work full time, and I am in school. I operate on 4-5 hours of sleep a night. I do a 3 day a week, heavy medium light program from andy baker, I don’t miss training sessions, and my diet is in line with your “how to be a beast” article. I have heard you speak about how busy your schedule has been and am curious how you handled training with a lack of time to properly rest.

I wouldn’t change anything except for having somewhat flexible loading protocols (RPE is pretty handy here). Somedays you’ll be stronger than you think you should be and vice versa, but you’ll still train, right?

To quote Dr. Baraki (who I think may have been paraphrasing me paraphrasing someone else…probably Rip, or I may have been making this all up): “What are you gonna do, not train?”
