Training - sleep disruption

Hello docs,

Thanks for all the content, first off! Avid listener of the podcast and new owner of some BBM shirts thanks to black friday. Currently in the middle of powerbuilding 1 and things are going well. A month ago I started training BJJ and have titrated up my training frequency to 4x week for it. Still doing all of PB1 lifting as programmed. In a slight deficit calorically. Since starting BJJ I wake up several times during the night, sometimes to use the restroom but quite often in the absence of having to. I’m aware BBM typically doesn’t believe overtraining is a thing with the exception of perhaps high level endurance athletes, but I was curious if an increase in overall training stress could potentially be responsible given the timing. I feel ok otherwise and lifts are going well. Any ideas that would help explain the new phenomenon? Thanks in advance.

I suppose it’s a possible explanation, if that is the main thing you can identify that changed in your life prior to the onset of these issues. Experimenting with your dosage of overall training may help determine this with more confidence, if you find consistent impacts on your sleep patterns.

This makes sense. I’ll change the dosage and see if it responds accordingly. Thanks doc
