Does the number of sets at the same RPE change the weight used?

I just finished up my first week on the Bridge. In Week 1, the Squat w/ Belt is 1 set at RPE 8, in Week 2 it’s 3 sets at RPE 8. Shouldn’t I use less weight since I have to do more sets or no? Will it likely be different weights for each set at RPE 8?

Also, all other things being equal, how much should I aim to increase the weights used week to week? 2.5 lbs for bench and press movements and 5 lbs for squat and deads? Or 5 and 10? Or is that not nuanced enough?

My guess is that my first set of RPE 8 in Week 2 should be 5 lbs higher than the weight used in Week 1. Then decrease the weight by 5 lbs each of the next 2 sets. Is that right, or am I way off?

I think you’re understandably pre-planning the weight choices a bit too much here. :slight_smile: You should still plan to add weight for week 2, provided your are staying close to RPE 8. You MIGHT need to take a bit off the bar for the subsequent sets, but you might not need that or you might only need to drop weight for the final set.

And you should plan to add weight, yes. I can’t say by how much since that will vary depending on your training history. But if you can add 2.5/5 each week, that’s great!
