Exercise order in Powerbuilding II

Hi there,

I have a question related with what tweaks can I do to the training split. Anecdotally, If i’m going to train two days in a row, which is the case of the four day split used in the program, I prefer to do the main bench/OHP sessions before the squats and deadlifts. This last two tend to fatigue me more, so I save them after the presses to have the rest day immediately after.

So, instead of squat/bench/deadlift/press, I would rather use bench/squat/press/deadlift.

Is there any reason that justifies doing the other way around? Or it’s just a matter of personal preference?

I was thinking that maybe is for managing fatigue between the two days. I mean, how impactful can be doing the supplemental squat before the main squat Vs doing the supplemental bench before the main bench.

In that case, I thought to change the supplemental deadlift and doing before the main squat and so on.

It would look like this:

Bench/Supp. DL
Squat/Supp. Press,bench (incline)
Press/Supp. Sq
Deadlift/Supp. Bench
What do you think?

Thanks beforehand

Hey Guille,

I don’t think I would recommend making changes to the program, as I think any issue with fatigue will work itself out as you improve fitness. I programmed the template the way it is based on the lift order of a powerlifting meet and the finding that bench and press are affected a bit less by squats and deadlifts than the opposite, though the effect overall is minor. That said, you can make whatever changes you like to the program.
